Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Seems to be some thin red airlines connected to it. What is the pipe used for & is it needed for a mk1 conversion? Parts of it are blocked off with masking tape from a previous mk1 conversion, hence my assumption it might not be necessary.

if you have the full isv control unit setup you have a vac line to the over-run cutoff valve, this comes from one of the brake servo nipples. the cold throttle enrichment valve also needs a vac connection, this fits to the overrun valve pipe with a t piece. the inlet boot/airbox may havea vac line too this is for the warm air feed system, but you can bin all that its not cold enough in the uk to make a difference.
the ecu also needs a vac line, comes from brake servo pipe nipple as well
