What Driveshafts Do I Need?

Hi guys I'm currently in the middle of dropping a abf 16v engine into my mk1 golf. I'll be using the mk1 golf FD gearbox. Can someone tell me what driveshafts I need? Do they need to be 100mm if so wheres the best place to get some new ones, are GSF/Euro any good, or someone else?

Match the driveshafts to the gearbox. So you need 90mm big block shafts - what model of Mk1 Golf is yours, the ones in it might fit?

Hi mate, the mk1 golf is from 1978 and started life as a 1.1

Thanks

The small block ones are different I think? It might be that one of them is the same length and the other is different????? Maybe someone who's done the conversion starting from small block can confirm, I've no experience with engines smaller than 1.6

ive just done the conversion myself from a 1.1 to 1.8 16v kr. drivers side driveshaft is the right length and will fit if you take the driveflange from your 1.1 gearbox and put that on the 1.6 box. as for the passanger shaft is to long so go for a mk1 gti 1.6 or 1.8 8v shaft and swap your 1.1  inbord joint and drive flange and heypresto your sorted fella if this is confuseing give me a ring on 07769343694 and ill talk you through it mal

Hi, I'm gona source some early mk1 golf driveshafts that have the 90mm flanges since these can be mated up to the gearbox. The g.box already has 90mm flages since its a mk1 golf g.box. I dont have the orginal 1.1 shafts as I had left them in my mates garage which were thrown out later lol.

With an ABF fitted I'd be looking to fit 100mm cups and shafts, depending on how you drive will depend on how long your FD diff will last  :)

I had a FD code gearbox on my 16V.  You do indeed need a pair of 90mm driveshafts from a mk1 GTI.  I happen to have a pair of fully Refurbed driveshafts im about to sell.  I paid £30 for them, then stipped them and refurbed the lot.  Im going to ask for £40 for them which I think is fair.  PM me if you want them
