What are the differences between an AGU and an AUQ engine?

Post

Can any one tell me if an AUQ is any different to the AGU engine?

I've discovered a local one for sale that I'm tempted in but need some direction first before balls ahead. :$Many thanks

in what way are you asking? the base engine is similar enough to use in either application, i.e if you have agu with blown engine, fit aum and swap all the sensors over.

there are soem differences in various 20v engines over the years but im not clued up on that stuff. main thing is early one have external waterpump like mk1/2/3, later ones have internal pump which is also the timing belt tensioner.  can still use either way just need to tweak coolant hoses

Aren't the port sizes different i.e AGU is a large port and the AUQ is small port?

that's not strictly true, to go "big" power you need to change rods etc, this is the same for any engine.

the agu does have the edge with port sizes, just, if you want to make a little bit of bhp difference
