what 8v engine variants fit

hello all,

I need engine advice.

1.8 kjet has give way and need replacement.

not easy to come by but do see the odd digifant engine or mk2 golf engine.
as I understood I thought digifants had injectors in manifold instead of head but I have seen common rail electric fuel management with injectors going into head also.

does that mean I could simply replace my engine with one such item.

I've also been told the kjet head bolts straight onto 2.0 bottom end.

does anyone have the definative knowledge here to know what goes with what so I can choose an replacement package?

Digifant has a few wiring issues, and you'd need the fusebox (digi)
As for the 2 litre bottom end try searching on the forum, been well covered
