Turbo Technics conversions?

Hey all,

Are turbo technics conversions still available? Obviously not through themselves but any other stores that carry them?

I am after a kit to run on a 1.6 Heron motor.

Cheers

You could try talking to turbtechnicsMk1 on here - he owns one, and also runs http://vwturbo.co.uk/ , which may be of some use

I'm in the process of doing a turbo conversion on my '84 convertible using CIS as I'm trying to build a turbo with parts that were available when the car was new, trying to keep it proper old school.

I've not found too much help as everyone is convinced that you should fit a G60 motor or a 1.8T 20V.

There are a number of threads on that tell you what to do, a brief list of the parts I'm using:-

CIS metering head with frequency valve from a Volvo 240 turbo with standard golf injectors, or Volvo ones for over 150BHP.

Boost sensitive WUR from an Audi 5000 turbo to handle enrichment on boost.

Cast iron T3 flanged exhaust manifold, loads available on Ebay from Germany and the States.

Vacuum advance/retard canister to retard the ignition when on boost.

Custom down pipe from turbo with standard 1.8 Gti exhaust.

SAAB 9000 intercooler

Currently have the car running but haven't had chance to get it on a dyno yet so haven't got a clue as to output potential.

hhmm food for thought, ive been sent a link to yanky ebay that has a conversion kit… but the only real useable bits are the exhaust manifold and the turbo… the rest is no good.

I have also seen the manifolds on ebay etc, so its do able… something Ill prob build up slowly.

I missed your post the first time I re-read this thread - do you have a build thread on your car, or any pics up anywhere? It sounds really interesting and you've obviously done some serious homework to get those period parts 8)

Thanks for the links/replies guys, will look into it  :D

Be nice to have something different.

Actually, does anyone know if a manifold from a turbo diesel 8v motor would run on a 1.6 8v Heron motor?  :dontknow:
