TSR Conversion

Post

Righto, im in the middle of doing a 9a conversion on my golf. I had planned to send the wiring off to rubjonny but as he is pretty busy at the moment and his waiting list being long and me needing/wanting the car back on the road i decided to try and find someone else who would be able to help make a conversion loom. I spoke to a guy at TSR who was very helpful and said he could do the loom for me. Has anybody else had a loom done by them?

I really wanted rubjonny to do it because the amount of positive feedback ive read about him and his workmanship too

Also when Jonny said about doing my loom he wanted me to send my mk1 engine loom and 9a loom and he'd do the wiring so it was basically plug and play, when i had spoke to TSR they only wanted the corrado loom…? Does this sound normal. TSR also said about doing some wiring regards to the icv was it? Saying that they could sort it so it wouldnt conk out on cold mornings!

As you can probs tell im a newbie when it comes to VW but any comments on this would be cool

Many thanks

Chay

You should have no issues with the TSR loom. The ISV controls the idle stabilisation on a cold 16v engine, either that or you need to constantly blip the throttle to keep it going.

Ahh he did say something about having the ISV loom and to send that off with the engine loom. He said it should have a relay on the end of it

Ill have to have a dig around in the garage as ive got the whole corrado loom!

Cheers

chay you're #12 in my list right now :)by the sounds of it TSR are talking about converting the 9a to run kr management, which is fine but pretty much all the 9a parts you have now will need swapping for KR stuff. plus you dont actually have any of the KR wiring so you would have to buy that as well, the 9a ecu loom is completely different!

What TSR do is make an add-on loom which runs alongside the old engine loom, which is why they dont need your old loom. This way is ok with kr as most of it is seperate anyway. as long as your mk1 is a gti that is, as you still need all the cold start wiring with the tsr loom (i assume anyway?)

I combine both looms to make a mk1 9a/kr loom, so its basically as VW would have done it if it rolled out of the factory :)
