transmission help.
I am the new owner of a MK1 Noticed that when driving it on the way home it feels like the transmission is slipping . any one know where to buyt a new transmission from?

1) what model of car & engine 2) sounds more like a new clutch assembly rather than a transmission

Yeah I was thinkg that too. It is a 1984. I picked it up yesterday after years of looking for this thing. When I picked it up in queens the guy tol me That there was no first gear that you have to take off in second. I new a new clutch was need. but I doidnt think that it would cause the car to jump like that.

Pulling away in second all the time would wear the clutch, sounds like you need to replace clutch and g/box. While it is possible could be linkage in my experience its fifth that becomes hard to find not first.

You could do worse than a "wanted" advert here. Alternatively, eBay. Its probably more important that you find one reasonably close to you, rather than a cheap price, since its the kind of item you'd need to collect in person.
