TA TECHNIX COILS FOR MK1CABRIO

Hi,

I want to get a new suspension kit for my 92' mk1 golf gti cabriolet. After doing all the usual research and reading tons of comments on forums. I was first considering and ready to purchase hot tuning coils but had a change of heart and ended up not going through with ordering them. Im not ready/willing to spent £300-£600 for a kit so am looking for a more value for money kit i suppose?
I got in contact with hot tuning as iv read hundreds of threads on their  coils (thats why i considered the kit with them initially), anyway they sent me back an email now recommending the TA Technix kit. Lots of comments from buyers (not mk1golf cab owners) with positive comments having them but none that had tried the kit on a mk1 golf cabrio!?

Has anyone got them on there cabrio?
Is it any good?
Is it money well spent on a budget?
Should i avoid them?
Any help, comments , suggestions or advice would be great!!

Thanks

Comz

Hi,

I put the TA kit on my 83 gti cab. even though i was warned my lots of people about fitting coilovers i was really shocked about the stiffness of the ride afterwards.

you have to take them apart at first and pump the shock itself up and down a few times to get the oil moving (or activate the shock) then put them back together.

It depends on what wheels you are going to be running to if i would recommend them to be honest. They were fine when i had bbs 15inch wheels on with a few scuffs here and there on the arches but that would be down to me running them a little low!

however when i changed to smaller wheels, 13inch revolutions, i had to really wind them up to get enough clearence. This made them really stiff to the point where i have changed my daily route to work as to avoid a really bumpy country road!!

if you add it up, i think i paid £140 for the kit, £40 for new top mounts, £30 for new bolts from a VW garage (not nessasary as old ones were fine) then another £30 for tracking and camber to be set at a tyre garage.

Stay low, move fast

Coils

hi danger,

Finally someone replies lol!
I have the sportline edition cabrio, so it has its original bbs rims on it (15'). And i plan on keeping them on. So you would say the kit was good when you had your 15' bbs rims on your cab? I dont want to bother with it if its really bumpy and hard. Also is getting new mounts, bolts etc essential when putting coils on or can you just put the kit on and your ready to go? Im sorry but im really new to this in terms of upgrading my suspension as its the first time im doing it. Should i get the kit?

Thanks again bud
