Ahh was looking forward to seeing this
Ah well Im still going ahead with it on MK2 Gti, just gathering up the bits n bobs to start winter project.
If you want to give her/him a face lift you could always go with a single light grill without badge and fit some crystal or smoked crosshair headlamps, dead easy to do Laura and get front and side indicators to match.
Good Luck

Didnt want to make a new topic as there are a few..
So is it a straight swap with the wings and same for the Golf front panel to the Jetta front panel?
Any work need to be done to the inner wings etc?
Cheers

Have a look here, Mk1 golf converted to Jetta front end.
i don`t like it, it appears too angular and bulky…

I agree, there's a Westy nosed MK2 in the Sig' of the reply just under it though and that look lush.

You are right the US Rabbits had a deeper grill gap than the euro mk1s. Similar to the Jetta front but not quite the same.
Both the US front ends had a deeper grill, whether the std 'rabbit' style raparound style, or the earlier westy style mk1 (similar to the mk2 westy).
Std Rabbit style
Earlier westy style
I've got the mk1 'westy' style set up, like a retard I never realised it was significantly deeper so haven't fitted it, lol. There's variations on both types (slatted/eggshell, GTI/Chome etc)

Cheers for the link..
On that project car I cant see whats been done to the inner wings? Something to the bottom at the front?
Looks like the jettas dont wrap around as much as the golf front
I like that early westy!
inner wings also needed some modding

As far as I can see the main change to the inner panel is it needs trimming back where the indicator will sit.
