bluebird rack is the one used in the power steering kits tsr used to supply, simple bolt on job, fits well and works well but it does cost

TSR Performance (www.tsr-performance.com) have offered a right hand drive power steering kit for several years in the UK. This kit is in the region of £1,000+, and utilises a rack believed to originate from a Nissan Bluebird with Primera steering arms
Adaptor plates ARE required to mount the rack onto the Mk1 bulkhead (see pics below), and the steering column UJ needs modifying to use Golf UJs at the column end and Bluebird at the other. Ancillaries, pump etc are from the Mk2 Golf.
The Primera track rod ends do not fit, nor do Bluebird, as the taper is too large for the Mk1 hub
ADAPTOR PLATES ON TSR RACK, much the same as mine but £1000 less
Plus I located a bluebird rack to mock up fitting the rack, i found that the rack is a few inches wider than the mk1 rack measured at the inner tie rod ends and offset to the left side when compared to the rack in the mk1 so it would always be offcentre, the tie rods are longer the track rod ends won't fit
So sorry abfmk1 but there racks where are more difficult to fit and defo don't bolt straight on, well it will with the brackets so if someone wants to pay me £1000+ beleive me i'll sell you one that will bolt straight on

yeah thats what i meant bud, they will bolt straight on with brackets, i have just told you how to make the brackets plus on my conversion the tie rods don't need changing neither do the track rods ends etc, and i fully understand that it bolts straight on but thats only because they have charged you 1000 quid for them to make them ready to go with new tie rods, track rod ends + brackets

Hi
Sorry if this is a daft question but I assume a MK2 rack does not fit. Why is it not easier to modify a MK2 rather than modifying Corsa or Bluebird etc?

I thought 'crazyquiff' was developing a bolt on power rack…..
Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…

how about putting some details up anyway, B or C column? i originally bought a b column to do conversion but only read bad things about them so got a c column but big heavy thing so didnt fancy using that

just getting some pictures together of the parts you will need if you are going to have a go,and mods you wll need to do to fit one,i found the removal of the dash the worse job, once you have got your column welded up it is just a bolt in job only 5 bolts
