PL(1.8 16v) engine swap into JB(1.5 8v)

Hello,

I found bare PL engine for very reasonable price. It includes engine itself and injection. So I am wondering if my gearbox from JB engine will fit? Is it worth to swap to PL at all or should I keep looking for KR? Also is it possible to tune PL engine to to KR power output(102kW) or more?

pl engine is 99% same as kr anyway, only the inlet cam is different so swap tyhat and its a kr. the engien managment is a bit different too but you can just fit kr stuff if you like. if the box is an 020 then it will bolt on, just change the clutch kit to an 8v 210mm one and use the pl flywheel

Double checked and it's a 020 gearbox. And what about the loom, I would need to buy it from PL/KR engine. Any other parts needed? As I know PL has KE-jetronic injection?

you could run it either on kr or pl managment, whichever is easiest for you. once the kr inlet cam is swapped over you'll have kr power either way :)

yes it'll be fine, put the kr cams into the pl engien to give you the full 139bhp and swap over a couple sensors from the kr engine to the pl and you're done!

yes, the kr has 3x single pin black sensors for dash, ecu and isv controller. pl only has 1 black sensor for dash, and a different rating 2 pin sensor for ecu.

plus iirc the 2 pin thermoswitch for the 5th injector is different also, either that or it doesn't have one!
