overun cut off valve yes or no?

Hi I,m in the middle of my 16 valve conversion, do I need the overun cut off valve that goes in the bottom of the airbox or can I do without it?. ie just blank the hole in the airbox,
I have the isv and control box and am in the process of wiring it up, also the old wiring for the vacuum time switch in my 1990 cabrio is behind the battery do I just tape this up now? and not use it anymore.
Wheres the best place to take the +12volt supply for the 16 valve ecu from when doing this conversion? thanks

if you have the isv wired in you may as well use it. i think it helps it return to idle slower

i think i wired the ecu to the coil

yeah it catches the revs if you lift off at high revs, as said since you're using the full isv control unit no reason not to wire it in

Hi I was in the process of fitting the overun cut off valve but there is not enough room for it, I have the mk 1 airbox with the 16 metering head fitted to it, I have a smaller audi fuel filter fitted at the front by the headlight, but there is no room for the cut off valve at the back of the airbox as it is too close to the shock turret, anyone got any photos of how they fitted this in??
thanks. I was going to use the mk2 airbox but the size is much bigger so I would say the amount of cutting away involved wouls be silly, all advice greatly appreciated thanks again.
Also another question the metal water pipe from the pump to the heater rad is thicker than the 8 valve one, so the heater pipe is too small to go over it, does one just stretch the rubber heater pipe so as it will fit over the metal pipe or whats the best way to do it ??? thanks.

I used a pre-90 mk2 16v airbox with most of the bottom cut off, mk2 air hoses except for the upper airbox one which was a mk1 item streeeeetched over. you need a 90spec mk2 or corrado upper airbox rubber ideally as the pre-90 one is too tall. 90spec airbox is too wide and will ever go in

yes it went in fine, have a looky in the thread, you might be able to see it?

worst case just leave it off, you'll probably be ok without. keep the 2 pin plug in case you find it does cut out when lifting off at high rpm :)
