oil cooler head troubles!

any ideas how to fit an oil cooler rad to gti? my current oil cooler has two water hoses connected so i cant take the head off without loosing water. can i join these two together with 15mm pipe or what? HELP!!

are you doing head gasket on the car if so you will need to drain the water and oil any way

I had to swap a later type oil cooler for the rad style one on my last MK1, but I had all the correct piping off my old engine. Your best bet may be to source the proper piping rather than bodging it It's pretty straightforward if you do this! Unfortunately I can't remember which pipes are different

I wouldn't worry about losing water too much as this is almost unavoidable.
