mk3 engine swap

Do the engine brackets need to be changed to fit in a mk3 engine into a mk1? What else needs to be changed and were the mk3 golfs made in 1.9 tdi?

the mk1 engine mounts bolt on to the mk3 engines, mk3's had 1.9 tdi's from 1994, if you are planing on fitting one to a mk1 you will need to fabricate a down pipe due to the exhaust manifold outlet being in a different position to a mk1. it can and has been done though.

i have put a mk3 TD golf engine and mk3 box into a mk1 golf no real problems,the only problem was the exhaust,this was fabricated by a specialist company there are a few about,LTC in lye midlands do such a service,not used them myself though,mine is stainless steel from the turbo to the 1 silencer at the rear,it also goes like s… stink  :twisted:

good friends of mine, but i've not seen a good exhaust come out of there! cheap wheels and tyres though.
