Mk2 Wiper motor conversion

I found a Mk2 wiper mechanism in the back of the garage, still packed up as it was when it was delivered.
I obviously bought it for some reason and seem to remember that its fairly easy to put a Mk2 motor on the Mk1 for improved wiper speed.
Is this true and has anyone done this before and what other mods need to be done??
Cheers

Yes - Bolts straight on though at a different angle…

You just need to make up a few jumper cables to wire it up as the plugs are different shapes. The points are all numbered though, so it is just a case of matching them up!

Yes - Bolts straight on to the Mk1 wiper mech frame.
Strip the mech down and clean/grease it while you are doing the job though…

ye i used the motor but the plug was different, so all i did was cut the mk2 loom and left about 6 inches and put spade connectors on the end of it and the wire colours match the mk1 loom so just match them up and hey presto FAST WIPERS!!!!!!

look at the white plug housing, is it 5 pin? if so its fine, find mk2/3 plug and splice to your loom

the other pins go straight inside the casing, this is why you only see 2 external wires :)

I got a plug and some wire from a Mk3 golf in the scrap yard and left as much wire on as possible, the white plug on the wiper motor end. I then fitted some spade connectors on and fitted the new bit of wire between the new motor and old wiper plug just to make sure it all works and one day I'll get rid of the old plug and wire it directly in to the old wiring.
(This is from my 1978 Mk1 Scirocco so the car end of the wiring may be slightly different as my old plug is square)
