mk2 golf engine swap?

Ok, so after my car decided to set itself on fire, i want to rebuild it, wiht a bigger engine.

i dont fancy injection costs and basically all the work behind it, and limited time scale etc.

Ive been offered a 1.8 carb out of a mk2, pretty sure (99%) its a driver, id like to run this in my mk1, any advice AT all would be good, as to how hard/easy a swap it will be i.e. any major wiring changes?

i know i need to change the engine mount position, is it the same engine as a mk1 cabby as these are basically a mk2 anyway alot of them i.e. early to mid 90s, as its a 1.8 carb im hoping they are the same in many ways

If they are the same engine then ill run a cabby loom to hook it all up, basically any advice would be appreciated, if its the same as a cab, then thats what i want to hear

Arn't Mk2 drivers 1.6 carb engines? Im pretty sure they are.
Correct me if im wrong.

You might be right but think they did a 1.6 and a 1.8 mate

i had a mk 2 driver and it was sure enought a 1.6 well 1575 but close enough

1.6 the early ones, 1.8 the later ones (about 1990 onwards at a guess?)

ok cool, anyone out there had any luck with this conversion, or know anything about it? hopefully picking up the car this week
