MK1 US rear lights

Just been looking in new PVW ad jizzed over that nice american mk1 in it
wouldnt mind putting a set of US lights ont back of mine

was wondering if US lights seem the same height as the euro ones
cause i have a feeling there thinner but longer
longness wouldnt be a problem just chop some of my rear light panel out
and do they have rear fogs in them?
and does anyone know the meesurements for them
and dont slate me for wanting them please

probs best finding a US club but thought id ask on here beforhand

Should be a direct swap as far as mounting. The short lights are the same size as the Euro short lights (cars were made in Germany until 1981). Same for the long style, but the way the bulbs are held in place is different. The Euro versions use a bulb tray and the US version uses a seperate socket for each bulb. No, there is no rear fog on the US versions but I believe there are two brake lights (not so sure). The seal is most likely different just like on mk2 models and you will have to match the wiring.

us rear lights are huge nothing like the euro lights we have.I think there quite ugly myself

They are as thin as series one lights but longer. On the US rear panel there are 4 square holes for the lights to fit into rather than the 2 holes you see on our s1 panels.
From memory two of the holes look to be the same size as the ones that are on our s1 panels but the other two are small holes. Im not sure if the mounting holes are the same at the indicator lense end but they seem to be the same size/shape.
I dont have a pic so hope I explained it well enough.

might try get some lights from the US and match them up
cars getting full respray in the next couple of weeks when ive got some new panels together so what ever i do i wont be fussed

I'll keep my eyes open for ya..   My concern would be your license plate.  It won't fit between them.

I'll send them to ya if ya wanted.   I don't know what the cost to the UK would be,   but it can't be that much.

id need bulb holders too tbh
second hand ones would be better
