Mk1 remote boot release

Anyone got any pics of the brackets they made up and solonoids used for mk1 boot release? Just looking at doing mine and the way the lever needs to move is ideallly down, and obviously the solonoids want to pull straight, so any pics of what you guys may of done would be real handy.

this probably wont help, but try replacing it with a lock mech that is used on a pickup, cost most hatchbacks have a central release, whereas a pickup is held on the sides, so it has a bar top and bottom that is moved left and right, u cud mod this with a standard solenoid?

I think due to time I'm gonna have to use the existing lock release, as it must be easily possible as loads of cars are running them.

Andy77 any pics you have would be handy! Hopefully gonna try and pick up a solonoid today, and start working out the release later.

Hope these pics help not great !

First and second pic shows how the cable is attatched to the original lock mech, the pic is taken looking up at the tailgate (you can make out where the lock barrel has been blanked over (help that helps to orientate you to all the pics !) Coming up from the bottom L/H corner of the pic you can also see the small copper pipe that the wire is feed through, before its attatched to the lock mech.

The third pic just about shows the solenoid (bottom centre of pic) i used which was from an aftermarket central locking kit, this is attatched to the inside of the tailgate
on the left hand side as you look up at the inside of the tail gate.
Hope these helps, will be on the club stand at GTI Spring Fest if you want a closer look.
