Mk1 G60 Trackcar.What Intercooler to use???
Ive been building a mk1 golf GTI that i picked up as a project. The shell is totally stripped at the moment awaiting a full cage to arrive so i can finish the shell and get it painted. In the meantime ive been rebuilding the G60 Rallye motor ive got and re-building the Jabba charger it came with too.Im just wondering if there is an intercooler out there off something that would fit nicely and obviously as big as i can get,to fit in the space i have in the front of the mk1? Anybody out there found a wopping big I/C that fits in there good without no chopping of front panels etc?Or has anyone come accross any mk1 g60 problems to do with the I/C that im likely to have to overcome?Any pointers would be appreciated!Cheers

Thats more like it.I thought about a sprinter i/c before but not really heard much about them fitted into mk1`s,never seen one fitted into one either. Will the original radiator fit in its proper place with this sprinter i/c in the way too?

I am just about to fit a Sprinter one to my MK1 i also have got a MK2 16v Golf Rad and a "Spal" slimline fan to fit to mine.
I guess you can use the orginal Radiator but and fan but space will be tight ?

a gti rad wont fit because of the charger so you have to use a smaller one.i used a 1.5 topfill rad on mine but you can use a mk2 polo one they fit well you can also use the corrado one

only issue is big intercooler capacity is pressure drop across the cooler = lag. so keep that in mind, it will always be a trade off between lag and power.

Has anyone found an i/c that fits in front of the radiator without having to relocate the battery?
There are too many online users to list.
