Mk 2 struts on a mk1?

Will they fit? Yes or no? If not does anyone have a set of front struts for sale?

ye he is mate, did you put him on to me?? he pm'd me yesterday, im guna try and get my shell stripped this week then im guna start on the other one i got. th eblack one is guna be tidied up and mot's then sold with a new mohair on it!!

told rov to pm you as i knew you may have a set with the 100mm flanges

any as mk2 struts dont fit mk1s i think its only fitting thqat ive hijacked this thread

Mk3 struts fit Mk2 though - although that probably doesn't help you at all.

I bought new front struts for my Mk1 directly from my local VW dealer and they were only about ?26 each.  At that price I can't see any reason why you'd compromise your cars handling and safety with anything less than brand new genuine items?
