Mk 2 dashboard into Mk 1 ??

Is it at all possible to fit the whole dash from a mk2 16v into mk1 cabriolet? I have just aqquired a 1988 cabriolet in a bit of a state, dash cracked etc and wondered if a mk2 dash/surround would fit, not too worried about wiring! Also have a 16v motor for sale from Jetta 1991 car if anyone interested??? 130k runs fine no knocks bangs or other horrible noises!! Offers??? Thanks!

my 79 gti had a mk2 dash when i bought it and I would seriously recommend that you don't bother it looks like there was alot of work to make it fit and it looked horrible

not sure about your car but my 3 door gti it was no way a straight swap, must of taken them ages and it looked crap!

I put it straight in the skip, i've cursed the person that did it loads of times cost me over a 100 quid to put it right :x

the mk2 dash is pretty ugly imo.
stick with the mk1 or mk3 dashs look good.
