Hi
im at the stage of finishing my 1.8t conversion
but I'm having a real ball ache trying to get the gear shifter sorted.
I have a lupo gti shifter with an o2j box I want to mount the shifter inside the car but the cables seem too long.
.
Anyone got pics or pointers?

Hi,
I have the exact same gearbox and shifter setup in mine.
Have you definitely got the Lupo GTI cables ?
You might have the 1.8T ones which are too long, but can be routed to fit.
My shifter sits under the tunnel:
This is one of the cables - I took this pic after it failed, but it will give you the number off one of the them to compare (the other cable has a similar number)
They are still available from VW, about £40 a cable.
The number has changed, but I cannot find the number - ping rubjonny on here as he was the one that told me the new numbers, I think it was just the 8X0 that changed on the front.

Hi
Thanks for the reply
That's really helpful
I will check the numbers tomorrow
Question about mounting the shifter below, did you cut anything from the tunnet to make it fit. Also did you add any heat shielding ?

no mods needed to tunnel, the later 02J fits straight in the hole.you just need to make some holes to bolt it up.
left the factory heatshield on the cables to protect them from the exhaust.
