i read that the best starting point is a transvers engine for a mk1 conversion. But the place where i live is so hard finding a transverse engine. I want to learn which different parts needed for a longitudinal engine than transverse engine ? And which box can be used ? Thanks for reply.

" Engine
There 2 different options for engines in this Guide we will be using the engine for a transverse car to make the conversion as simple as possible .the other option is the longitudal engine but this requires alot of parts to be swapped over so not a good starting point. So engine of choice is an AGU these are found in Audi A3's & Mk4 Golf and possibly other VAG variants "
i want to put 1.8t engine in mk1 gti. But i cant find agu engine. The writing upper is this forum conversion guide. ".the other option is the longitudal engine but this requires alot of parts to be swapped over so not a good starting point" i want learn what is this parts .i hope i can explain.

the trouble is the parts you need come from a transverse 20v engine anyway! mainly its the sump, inlet and possibly oil filter housing

They need a hell of a lot of space forwards of the front wheels mate, I'm not sure there's enough space in a mk1

I dont think he means he wants to fit it longitudally ??

Yes sump means oil house, it is possible to fit AEB and other longitudal engines transversely, i believe the standard bigblock engine mount fits and these engines will connect to the big block mk1 golf gear box,s using the appropriate clutch assy.
