KR 1.8 16V GTI CONVERSION

Hey! i recently bought a mk1 golf project, which is now nearly complete apart from the engine gong back in…?
the car came with a 16v gti engine already installed but not wired or connected up etc… i took the engine out to respray the engine bay, and now its ready for the engine to back in!
however before i put it back in is there any other modifications that need to be added ie electrics as its still  just the standard 1.1ltr wiring………..?
i have the ecu does there need to be any wires added for this to be connected up…?
