Hydraulic leak on 1.8T Bam code

Vehicle in question - Audi S3 1.8T BAM

Hi guys,

I know that this isn't exactly specific to the MK1 but it does have relevance IMO as it's an engine and gearbox mod which many people have done and/or thinking of doing. My friends just told me about this so I thought i'd try and help him by posting on here - fingers crossed someone can help!!

His S3 has developed a hydraulic leak and he has been told that this is most likely to be either the Master or Slave cylinders which apparently are located in the bell housing. The leak isn't all that bad but obviously any leak isn't a good leak - specially when this will be leaking hyd fluid onto the clutch. He asked them to quote for it and they have come back with a staggering £1400 Shocked but this does include a new clutch Wink Audi are quoting £1200 + VAT

I am hoping that someone on here either knows audis, or has done a 1.8T conversion will know whats involved, rough timescales etc as to me that is a joke to change an £80 part! fair enough it will have a £100 - £150 clutch kit included but still!

If anyone on here are specialists/capable of sorting this or knows of any speacialists in or around Manchester to contact that would be great!, have tried Awesome Gti and PSI tuning thus far and they are calling back with prices

Thanks all!!!

They mustn't want the work!

Either master or slave cylinder will take around an hour to replace. If you need a new clutch, factor in a few more hours, don't expect to pay more than 6 hours' labour though.

Hi
Maybe its just me being thick, but aren't the S3's four wheel drive, that will account for the astranomical price to remove and replace the gearbox and the price of the clutch, its nowhere near as simple as a straight forward 1.8T golf two wheel drive!!
