Golf Mk2 driving wheel and column
I want to change my too old driving wheel and column (Mk1 1979) with Mk2 with all the asociated switches and arms. What do you think I would need to make this modification? will the driving column of Mk2 fits into the universal joint of Mk1? Is it easy to make it work with the fusebox of Mk1?
I have 1.3 engine and facia of Mk2.

The Mk2 does not fit the Mk1 universal joint. The method of attachment of the column to the car is also different. The electrical connections are different, but you can always splice wires. I have a Mk2 column that I will be putting into my Mk1, but I cut the sheet metal out of the Mk2, so that I can weld up an appropriate brace. I think you can squeeze the Mk2 column into the Mk1 column mounts with a little fitting. The Mk1 convertible was made as long as the Mk2 regular Golf, so you can also get a newer column that is a direct replacement.
