G60 Safety Circits

Hi All

I have bought a mk1 already G60 converted which was not running with various electrical problems. I have now sorted the engine looms and got the motor running. I would like to check the oil pressure and coolant temps circuits are working correctly. The coolant sensor is wired in to the G60 ecu but there appears to be another sender just behind, is this supposed to be wired to the dash gauge, if so how?, Is there an oil pressure sender on the G60 engine and can this be wired to a VDO/ campaign gauge?

Just trying to play things safe as I don't have any history for the conversion, on the plus side everything sounds good and the shell is in good condition.

the black 2 pin sender is for the dash, brown is earth and red/yel is temp feed. for the oil pressure warnign there are 2 switches 0.3 bar blue/brown in the side of the head and 1.8bar white in the filter housing, wire colours are yellow and black/blue but they can be either way round depending which wirign was used.

for a VDO gauge you'll have to add another sender, as the switches are only open/closed. try to get a 2 pole switch as this replaces one of the existing oil pressure switches so saves fitting a T piece.

as for wiring the above check the fusebox sticky thread, all the pinouts are in there

Yeah blue/black on the side of the head green/black goes to oil filter housing yellow/red goes to temp sender which is the black sensor and as said brown to earth.

Thanks Lads, Will be on this today, do you know if the switches are made on pressure rise or drop?

one on the side of the head is low pressure one on the oil filter housing is high pressure I believe.

indeed, head is 0.3bar, filter housing is 1.8bar
