Front speaker solutions?

Im really into my music and sitting in the car in traffic means I need a good sound.

The rear is sorted out now but I have no pods in the front door cards , so no room for speakers.

Ideally I dont really want to be hacking holes into the door cards. 8O

Anyone got any ideas or solutions for front speakers?

Thanks

You could alway buy another set of door cards that have been cut already, theres loads out there cheep because of this, then keep yours mint and put them on for a show etc :dontknow:

Might I suggest that while stuck in traffic you simply recline your seat fully and enjoy the music from your rears!

I mean, if i used some other door cards, I assume id have to make some MDF housing for them and Brown bread the area?

Anyone done this?

Can't you get 2nd hand door cards with speaker pods - like gti ones. Prob. cheap enough and straight swap over then!

I guess you don't necessarily have to put the speakers in the doors. This will make the installation a bit more complex, but it would mean that you don't have to hack the interior around either, or swap bits for shows etc…

You could mount some tweeters on the dash / A-pillar, and put the bass unit somewhere under the dash. There's loads more room and the position of the bass unit isn't as important as the tweeter.

Just a thought anyway - I will do something similar once I've got mine running…

Im thinking something like these are the way to go then.

get an absolute descent set up of 6x9's in the rear door cards, talking some infinity kappas or something similar , copuple of subs in the boot and there you have it, thats all i have at the mo and sounds absolutly awsome, i do advise whilst you have door cards of to sound proof it, i use some stuff from homebase, about 126quid for 16 metres, same stuff u seal your lead roofs with etc cant think of the name of it, when i do i will let you know its basiacly a layar of tar with a film ontop, this works wicked and does the same job as dynamat and other expensive sound insulation, (flashing tape) just rememberd the tname of it.

the whole of my golfs done in it, sounds awsome no rattles or vibration noises, and thats with 2 12" subs in the boot,
there coming out now anyway going on to striped out and rally style for some trackdays

Yer those would be equally good - probably better really as they'd bolt straight on.

I'm based in Reading, for my sins… Are you in the Berkshire area too? If so I will have to recruit you for the monthly meet (see here for details)

MudwiG - if you want to refrain from cutting your door cards, i would reccomend, hiding a nice set of components under the dash, and mount the tweeters inside the cool air ducts on the dash, you will still need to fit a nice 10 or 12" sub in the boot,  but this will keep teh stelth look of your instilation, whils still giving good sound.

Also IMHO 6x9 in the rear door cards is a bad idea!

Thats a good idea, might look into that myself....

If your buying 6X9's, buy a Nova 1.3SR to go with them!

Seriously though, ask any good ICE installers and they "should" tell you that 6X9's are NOT the way to get a quality sound from your head unit!

Amp to run the components + 10 or 12" decent sub in the boot also with it's own amp.

Alpine head unit or something of equal subtle design & build.

If you looking for a set of door trays, i used a set of slightly customised Fiat Uno door trays. they fitted no probs, 3 screws from the back of the door card.

I mounted a set of component speakers into the tray and made a custome surround from mdf and leather..

I think they were out off a 95 fiat uno, the old square shape, pron find loads in the scrappies

Pm me for more info i you want
