just had a horrible thought, my KR conversion wont idle but i just remembered that i had to use the flywheel off the original 8v carbed engine, would the timing marks on the flywheel be very different on say a mk2 gti flywheel ?
this could be causing a few issues if they are LOFL
Or would i be right in thinking all flywheels only bolt on in one postion because of the keyway on the crank there for TDC is always TDC ?

should be 6deg btdc. i think if its 210mm it should have the correct marks on
have you got a strobe light as thats the only way to check the timing.
it will also need the co set
mk2 8v gti flywheel will be fine

if its a carby flywheel the big diamond is 18deg BTDC which is more advance than the 6deg mark on the gti flywheels. the main thing is, when you timed up the bottom end you used the punch mark to set it to TDC before fitting the belt? becasue a few peeps have used the big diamond for that which is wrong
