Fitting a 02a gear stick and cables into a mk1

Hi all,

Im currently in the process of putting an ABF engine with the 02a gearbox, from a seat ibiza I have as a donor car, into my mk. I have taken the gear stick and cables out which are routed along the exhaust tunnel in the ibiza.

How have people then gone to route it in the mk1. I think i'v read somewhere that you cut a hole in the bulk head a feed the cables through, if so where abouts is best?

Also is it as simply as just bolting the stick where you want with the 4 holes or do you need to modify the black box around it or get rid of it completely.

route the cable same in exhaust tunnel. never see a ibiza shifter so dont know what the cable lenght is. you have two options that i know work in mk1.  mk4 shifter underneath tunnel. or polo gti shifter above tunner hole drilled just under heater matrixbox. test your shifter underneather what u have and see if there is enought cable to the box
