I think they're a bag of poop having seen various bits on the net over the years.

I think for them to be powerfull enough to actually do anything you would need to power them from the mains,

I saw a video once of a saxo with a leaf blower shoved in the intake, it made a difference, but it was a hell of a lot bigger than these are haha.

Was that a petrol powered leaf blower though?

Electric superchargers do nothing other than drain battery supply. Extra voltage from the battery to drive the vanes. Extra strain on the alternator to keep the battery charged, extra load on the engine due to the increased strain on the alternator. Extra load on the engine = more fuel used.
And they won't pressurise the intake air enough to make the increased electrical load worthwhile. So it really would be an entire waste of money

Easiest/cheapest way is to find a similar engine which came with a turbo - ie for a Mk1 Golf, the 20vT conversion route. Otherwise you're into custom fabrication of manifolds, guessing what would be the best compression ratio, guessing the best size of turbo and how to modify fuelling/timing on an old (non-ECU) mechanical fuel injection system - or worse still, carburettor.

Hmm... Not entirely correct, there are some that work.
