Converting petrol to diesel

Ive just bought a 1.6GTD engine from a mk2 and plan on putting it in my mk1.
What are the main issues i'm going to have when fitting?

Glow plug set-up for ignition.
Engine mounts.
Fuel pipes.
Radiator.

Nothing that can't be overcome

Exhaust manifold and system???

Cheers guys, like you say the problems only seem to be 'small' when fitting. Hopefully be done and running well by ultimate dubs 2013

yes that is correct

you may need to change your driver mount on the chassis leg, bepending on if your car is currently a small block or a big block

Yer it will need to be chopped moved and flipped.

Will i have any issues with the standard mk2 GTD gearbox when fitting?
Ive got the 5 speed mount as seen above, but will the drive shafts and shifter fit? Im going from 4 speed 1.1 dont forget.
Also is the rear mount the same on all mk1's?

what the gearbox code of the one going in?

you will need 1 part of the 5sp linkage the gold one in the picture

or i custom fab mine up to give me clearence around the manifold

Im not sure on the code of the GB. I do have 2 though one from the GTD mk2 and one from a 1.9 AAZ mk3. 

at the bottom of the bell housing there is a code

like 4T or 4E

have a look and i'll take a look and tell you where it's suitable for the diesel and what size flanges it has
