coilover or decent lowering kit?

im stuck between 2 choices. i was going to put coilovers all around but afew of my mates said dont, just use a decent lowering kit package? would they be just as effective as the coilovers?

It comes down to budget and what you are going to be using the car for. In my experience if you are going to get coliovers go for an expensive set like Koni, Weitecs, KW.

My MK II had some FK Highsports fitted and they were really solid and made for a harsh ride. They had also rusted quite badly considering how long they were on the car and if you dont grease the threads they can seize.  Sold them and put some Koni Top Adjustables and Eibach springs and the ride is a lot smoother.

I would say if you want a big drop or to do track days etc then you might want Coilovers but try and go for a good brand with stainless bodies.

If you are going to be mainly driving on the road and not adjusting the ride height and go for a 40mm drop I would go for spring shocks for a slightly better ride quality for a lot less money.

Like Quicksilver said… I went for a Koni SSK set. Top adjustables and 40mm drop. Happy with it but wouldn't mind trying some eibach springs at some point to compare…
