Cabrio Brakes
just after some advice please.
I have a 1983 LHD 1.6CL Cabrio. (I think it has a 1.8 block fitted).
Basically I need to sort the front brakes out as they are s*

It has 256 mm front discs but they are only 12 mm thick.
Any advice on upgrading the discs and pads (makes and where to buy them as well). I dont want to do too much work, just change pads and discs really.
I will be upgrading the hoses as well.
Any help or advice would be greatfully recieved.

have a search as there are plenty of options, mostly dependent on budget and mechanical skills.
if indeed you do have 256 solid discs then uprating to 20mm vented discs should be straight forward.
you probably have 239mm solids, if so, i believe you can change to vented discs and pads without changing anythig else.
always buy the best quality discs and pads you can afford. for road use plain discs are perfectly good. genuine discs and pads will give much greater braking than cheap ones.
i've used zimmerman discs with pagid fast road pads with good results.

I thought they would have been 239, but defo 256mm x 12mm solid.
whould I have to change the calipers to fit the 20mm discs? or would the pads fit ok.

I am in Northern Ireland, so it would have to be by post.
let me know how much so I can see if the budget holder will release the funds.
