cabby - manual to electric roof.

spotted on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/…Z9889QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

what will i need to do to fit it to an '81.. Ive looked in the back of the car, and there are threaded mounting on the shell, and a rod to accept a tailgate style ended strut on the hood frame. Do the hydrolic rams bolt on the same mounting points with the same method? thanks if anyone can shed any light on this subject.

The frame is different on the power hood, you'd need someone to weld on brackets or get hold of a power hood frame… I have one spare if its needed but if I was to be honest, stick with the non power hood as I've owned both in my years and the benifit is very marginal compared to the gain!  :)

This has been covered before.
Use the search facility to find the post, that contains photos etc.
Don't forget there is wiring, switches and relays to fit also.

ive already bought  a pump, set of rams and wiring harness including switch thinking it would just be a simple switch over replacement like my mk 5 escort cabby was until i seen a few posts on here saying the frame does need brackets welded on, I cant seem to find the post you are referring to in the search if anyone could put a link to it on here it wouldbe very much appreciated, the wife struggles to close the manual roof so hopefully I can manage to do this conversion

The frame should be able to open and close easily.
If it's that stiff I would oil all the pivot points, so it's nice and free.
I will have a look for you when I'm on the laptop.
Just using my phone at the moment.

Lol, had a look through and I think the original poster was james75 or something similar, but the OCD have been removed.
Apparently there is a guide in one if the Haynes resto manuals.
Unless someone feels like taking some pics and measurements for you.
