Boot smoothing (Solenoid Q's)

Hi guys
I have sprayed and fitted my smoothed boot. I have fitted a solenoid to a polo with a smoothed boot before but i cant see the same type of solenoid working in the golf boot.

My questions are
Does it have to be a push type solenoid?
Does anyone have any links to where i can buy one to work in the golf?

i'm interested in this too no idea how too do it so maybee step by step intructions would help mines a 5 door tintop btw

I used a 2 wire door solenoid, if you use the feed for the rear wiper motor then all you need to do is get the actuater pulling the latch. Swap the wires round if it pushes!!! got my actuator from halfords a while back but any decent elec store will do them.

i got a proper boot popping kit from ebay and all it does is pull on the catch for a second and then release's. works a treat!

That is the kind of thing i have used before. I cant see where you could mount it in the boot though as there isnt a lot of room.

i welded the bracket to the bootlid before i started fillering though so it didnt matter about the paint on the outside of the boot.
