Bike carbs

What kind of power can I get fitting bike carbs onto my gti, or are they purely for the noise.....

More hassle on an
8v more than anything.

Check out my thread in the mk1 projects. I'd say go for it!

Easy to do and something different. Depending on engine spec, bike carbs will help to produce much more power than k-jet.
It's possible to get big power and big noise!

Obviously, I'd have to disagree with this as I've done it.

Apart from a couple of days waiting for the 8v manifold to be made, the rest I did in an afternoon! I bet you can't do that with a 20vt conversion!

It's the manifold that's the hassle, you didn't do that, you bolted stuff together, no hassle there to be had.

How's the heat soak on the inlet with the carbs sat above the exhaust manifold?

I supplied Bogg's with an original 8v inlet manifold and they adapted it. That's a couple of years ago now.

From my experience they have a lot of knowledge and expertise, and have provided a great service. Unfortunately, you can find a number of people leaving negative posts on forums, because they are disappointed that their car didn't produce 2000bhp with a Bogg manifold etc. Duh!

Never had any issues, as the exhaust is wrapped.  :)

Bike carbs on an 8v are a pain…NO one will agree to make a manifold for them!
