Alloy size... What's to much??

Hi.
I have seen some nice rims to go on my Golf but the smallest size is 16inch. Would these fit ok or would it rub, cause damage?? The car has been lowered too.
Cheers.

16 inch rim with 195/45 should be ok, similiar dimensions to 195/50x 15, but it also depends on width, et and amount lowered.

Thanks. What sort of width do you think is safley max? It's lowered but sensible, want it lower though!

just buy em and have a play.  rubbing is going to be inevitable if you want to run your car low and put 16's on.  otherwise you start looking into the arch rolling area, or even worse widening the arches altogether.  I wouldnt't put any wider than 7j's on myself.

Ok thanks, Looks like they do go down to a smaller alloy size just the site i was looking at only had 16 and 18. It's the borbet type a or type b but i want a good size of deepness to it. This sucks knowing nothing about alloys!!

My cabs lowered, with 15" wheels and 50 profile tyres and it rubs on the front inner arch on full lock and the side walls of the tyres on the rears, mostly when I've got weight in the back, not the best scenario but it still passes an MOT and before the side walls get dangerous the tyre will need changing anyway.

Like smokey said its bound to rub somewhere with big alloys and smaller springs!

Yeah your right, it's not rubbing at the moment at all even with a full car and would like it to stay like that. Will prob see what's out there which is the same size as the rims i have on it at the mo, Borbet a are so nice though!

Thanks for input, wouldn't of thought you could go that wide, Do you have (not sure of correct word) high tires then? since you have 13" on. I was thinking 15x6.5/7 not knowing i could go that wide but now im thinking maybe 7.5 :) with low profile tires. Do you have any spacers on or not?

Cheers.

If you find my build thread you can see my tyre profile is still nice and low with a little streach but its still legal so im living proof you can go good and wide however i think you need 13s to run them this way or you need to do some serious arch work i would think

cheers
