After a full on idiots guide Please!!!

Hey everyone, i'm doing me a 2e engine conversion and think i understand everything i need to do bar the Oil cooler!!! I've asked about it before and evryone was helpful and i've read other previous posts, but i cannot get my head round it for fudge!! So i'm after the simplest of simplest guides please. I want to fit the air cooled cooler but it wont fit the block, so do i use the 2e cooler part that fits the block and put the oil filter onto that minus the water jacket part? Also do i adapt the oil cooler pipes from the original MK1 to fit the 2e parts that fits to the block? I really hope someone understands whta i'm on about as i'm stuck!! Thanks very muc in advance Rich  :banghead:

you do know you do have to extend you exhaust downpipe to fit the 2e block as its taller, so u have to cut your old one and weld in 2 parts of new exhaust,
basicly, you un screw the water cooler of the block, and screw on the mk1 golf gti plate with the oil cooler pipes on, then bolt your oil filter to the plate

im doing the same conversion at the mo, and nearly complete, so any info just drop me a pm mate.

How do you fit the Mk1 pipes to the 2e water cooled housing? aslo do you remove the longer oil pick up pipe that goes into the filter for a shorter one! I'm going to be using a 4branch manifold am goig to have to have a mess with the exhaust! ta Rich

pipes

if its the oil cooler your on about you should be able to mod the 2e pipes to fit or an alternative if you strip all the water pipes of the mk1 engine including the the metal pipe that wraps round the engine it should be a staight swap you may need to change the top hose and side hose plastics as i belive they may be different

post some pics of exactly what you need to do
