IIRC to use Mk2 stuff you need the coil, TCI, dizzy and loom from the Mk2..

You sure its not something annoying like a bad earth somewhere?  Got voltage at the coil? at the cap?

Work back through the system and oyu'll find it ; )

Take it easy ; )

I seem to remember something about the abf dizzy not being suitable for the mk2 golf stuff but its hazy , not 100% sure

Does the ABF dizzy have a plug for the hall sender on the Mk2 loom to plug into?

ABF dizzy may be single window type as it has an ECU where the KR dizzy is 4 window type..

Stick a KR dizzy on there and it'll be easier to diagnose with matched components

Take it easy ; )

I just double checked and I'm right - ABF is crank trigger type and so the ABF dizzy wont work with the KR loom which is magnetic pickup type.

 problem solved   ;)

Take it easy ; )

Yeah dizzy is needed due to hall sender and also gives you advance/retard ignition as abf is self adjusting.
