9a conversion

Hi all I have a 9a with a standard 8v gti gearbox and was just wondering what starter motor would be best as my mk1 8v seams very sluggish and isn't turning fast enough to start now checked all earths and wires and they are fine 

any 020 will do if in good nick, golf 16v or mk1/2 diesel are uprated over std. mk3 golf 1.8-2.0 8v all uprated too but have different plug, you need to take the plastic spade cover off then it fits.

main thing though if its runnign k-jet you can nly use mk1/2 k-jet starter motro as you need the 2nd 15as spade terminal which isnt on the mk3 starters. you might find some diesel starters have this spade though?
