20VT Cabby problems Help Please!!!!

I ve had my 20vt Cabby for a year now and just recently its started to be really jerky in 3rd on boost, my fuel pump is a lot louder than usual, could it be as simple as needing a new pump, or something more sinister, Help would be gratefully accepted as Im new to this, Thanks, Paul.

Cabby Problems

By really jerky I mean when i put my foot down to accelerate in third it stutters and nearly stalls then I cant rev it up, then it cuts out and wont start again for 5 to 10 mins, Then it starts up fine goes through first and second then 3 just does the same again, Its ut been MOT'ED and its annoying the hell out of me.

did the garage change anything   to get the emissions right ? and out of interest did they class it as a mk1 or a newer mk4 ?

Mk1 2l TSR G60.  .getting. There twice as fast

Mk1 lhd diesel…….getting. There for half the cost

20vt Cabby

The garage MOT was classed as a mk1 therefore the emmissions were not a problem.

3rd gear is going to be where your getting a decent constant flow of boost, ie need of fuel soooo, fuel pump, clean fuel, check plugs see if your getting over/under fueling (wideband?) spark blow out perhaps, compression test would be worth while too eliminate bore wash/ring failure. Mk1 traits, earth for the fuel pump and rust in the tank as ben says!

1982 1.8T-20v-GtEfi. K03S. Megasquirt. 16v Servo + MS. Relayed lights. Mk3 Wiper Motor… Getting too Reliable!
With thanks Eddie-Toyotec, Ben-Bens_cab, Brian-Broke and the Mk1 Owners Club! 211Bhp, should get 250 on next map!
