16v twin carbs

I have finaly got my 16v twin carb engine running,thanks to all of you who helped,ive still got a problem,when i keep the key turned right on to start it,it will run perfect,as soon as i let it go the motor will die,will i need to run another wire to the coil from the ignition.

It does sound like you are just missing a wire somewhere. Can't tell you which one though sorry…

It could just be a dodgy ignition switch. I assume you've reused the existing +12V feed for the coil?

The switch was ok when the original gti engine,but i will cheak the switch just to make sure,thankyou for your help

I had exactly the same problem on my 8v, it turned out to be the ignition switch, after replacing everything else that existed. it dropped the live after the key jumped back to position 2 as apposed to crank (pos 3)
