To anybody who has done the conversion, am I right in thinking the mk2 Golf 16v driveshafts cannot be used for the conversion due to them being slightly too long?
I only ask cause I can get the mk2 Golf 16v front brake setup for ?50 including driveshafts and was just wondering whether I actually need them.
I've heard late cabby, rocco shafts are the way to go, can anyone confirm this?
Thanks 8)

An alternative to this would be to swap the drive flange on the mk2 16v gearbox to accept the smaller mk1 90mm inner cvs. This is pretty easy to do, the drive flanges are spring loaded and held in by circlips. This way you can use you existing mk1 driveshafts.
On a different not the mk2 16v brakes will not be suitable for the mk1. To go 256mm you will need to get the calipers and carriers of the early shape audi coupes/audi 80 sports. Theres a set on ebay if you are after this setup. I think it is possible to make the mk2 brakes fit but i have been told due to the hubs the car wll suffer from excessive bump steer. Someone else may be able to explain in greater detail.

tbh because of my slipping clutch I may as well had a 1L engine in mine for the past month or so, havent had many chances to actually give it some beans yet!
