1.6 16v transplant?

VOLKSWAGEN POLO 1.6 GTI 16v ENGINE with engine code AVY. Does anyone know if this would fit into a 1.6 gti? Well more of a has anyone done this? I'm needing a rebuild on my 1.6 8v so im looking at other options and have found a low mileage 16v engine.
