02J late type shifter tower?

anyone running an 02J or 02A with a later type tower in the box?

any issues with the reverse light and the mounts?

im going to run a 02R diesel box,same as a 02j by the looks,my reverse light is in the way,will just put a micro switch somewhere on the shifter  :wink:

its that or take the mount off (which i don't want to do again) and break out the angle grinder to shave a bit off to make room for it.

I cut some of the mount away to make room for the switch.

oh well good excuse to break out the goggles and the grinder then

shows how close it is

How you doin' folks? I'm doing my homework on this mod before I get the wrong tower .what car is the shifter from? also what about the cable change set up? does the polo shifter work  and is it a shorter cable? any part no.s or pics of the tower and shifter ?thanks folks

I used a mk4 Golf selector on a 02a gear box worked fine for me i have pictures in my thread, only mod to the car was two holes and cut a bit out from the hole fits snug to.

Fit a mk2 golf reversing switch and then bend the terminals  slightly as on my gearbox

that linkage set up looks different again,What car is that from mark ? any part no.s  or a closer  pic of the tower? cheers .

some gearbox brackets come with the bracket on to use the seat clutch cable as you can see in the pic so thats why i didnt bother with the reverse light i'm just pitting it on a switch
