where can you get fully recon'd mk1 engines from & how m

im wondering if anyone knows of places you can get fully recondition engines from, has any body ever come across anywhere that does them , managed to get one, or know wot they cost to buy? :dontknow:

There is an advert near the back of most VW mags for "The Engine Shop".  They do reconditioned engines and boxes. (?599 for a 1800/8v)

Looking at your other posts, you might be jumping the gun. Knackered engines don't run fine, miss for a bit, and run fine again.  Sounds more like an electrical problem, or a sticky valve or simular.

ive got a clipper engine  in the shed i was gonna throw.

came from my 92 clipper ive broke

u could have that and get it fully rebuilt then fit it in yours

thats if yours is a clipper

was a fairly decent runner as well

yeah mines a clipper 1990, i was thinking that, im bitting the bullet fixing the head gasket on this one and thought next year get my self another engine and just rebuild that ready to plonk in, that way i dont have to have her off the find somewhere to  store her while i build it and i can take my time when moneys available do it bit by bit

i wanna keep this one original m8, i may get myself a tin top in a yr or two to mess about with a tweak up and learn a bit more on may even rat it  :wink:

i think vege  still make engines for the mk1 . engines  google them , they have a place here in chesterfield.
