VW's and their "character"

I dunno if this has been posted before, but there's a few things wrong with my car which I LOVE like..

I press down on my left electric window, then up and the right one goes down, this works both ways..

My speed light doesn't come on untill I got faster than about 40..

My cd player wont work unless I have the cold or hot blowers on..

I got a Sportsline Cabriolet btw

Thought it may be a fun topic..!

I have a rear fog switch but no rear fogs!

It also struggles to start when parked uphill!

'79' 1093 cc!

I have to play electric window Russian Roulette - it opens every time, but will it shut again? Not when it's raining, usually.

The red temperature warning light comes on every time I go downhill.

I'm not sure I love these 'quirks'  8O

There was a long thread on Mk1 quirks if anyone can find it!

People still stop me at work and say 'have you still got that funny little car'

Everyone goes on at me to get a newer car or how old cars are poo. They also ask me why I turn up for my early (4am) shifts grinning like a madman and still look confused when I say 'cos the roads were empty!'

I know that one. When my MK1 was on the road still I used to go and pay my rent cash just so I could take the hour journey on twisty B-roads to get there!! :wink:

….. when you realise that you'd forgot to put the stereo on again and was busy listening out for strange noises. not the usual strange ones but new strange ones!

Well, my altenator went about two days after I posted this, so my cd player doesn't switch on and off anymore.. haha

my cabby has its moments like this year at santapod drove 300 miles no problems stopped a few times on route finaly got the retro cars meet to do some sprints met with paul_c decided the time was right to do a run up the strip. went to start it nothing ops: dead had to bump start it

anyway on my first run the clutch slipped the whole way down  :cry: got the the end stopped to the car to investigate adjusted the clutch then it started up on the button so tempermental are these vws

Had a new stereo fitted, requiring major rewiring from 'special' Blaupunkt jobby to nice new Sony jobby. If I turned the volume up or down when the headlights were on, the dash light fuse busted.

Sorted out now, but now my car disabler LED light doesn't come on. It took the mechanics 2.5 hours of work and most of the dash pulled apart - and some smoke from some of the dodgy previous wiring - to fix the stereo/dash issue (they did it for free though awww!).

I Just cried after reading this! reminds me of all the things i will miss now hes up for sale! Also I wont have people saying.. "the girl that drives that car" even though technically i will still be a girl that drives a car.
ahhh im gonna be clinging onto the new owners ankles as they try to get in my car to drive it away.
