They're much less grief than usual seats as it's just 2 clicks and you're off.
Thinking about it I think all they are is 2 metal bars welded into the floor so I don't see why they couldn't be retro fitted into a MK1 by someone in the know.

let me know,cheers,Sean
Yes please….
i take it you are talking about fitting the metal rod to the rear seats so that the isofix base can just click in ???

Welded to the floor? Am I on about something different then,I thought isofix bases were held in place by the seatbelt then the car seat clicks onto it! That's the ones we used anyway?
CLICK ME
Have a read mate. It's basically 2 metal loops in between the seat base and back that your base clicks into therefore removing the need for a seatbelt as the base it directly secured to the car.

So how do you fit those metal loops or can they be fitted at all ?
Cheers
All the ones I have ever had have been come fitted from the factory and I don't think they are offered as a retro fit by dealers either.
All they are, are metal loops so I don't see why come couldn't be made up for a MK1 by someone in the know.

Interesting. I haven't seen those before. I think you should buy one and be the test mule

To have isofix in a mk1 it's going to need welding & maybe some fabrication.

I decided to be the guinea pig so bought a Ford Focus isofix kit off eBay.
My cabby is off to the body shop this coming week to have a couple of minor dinks repaired so I took the isofix kit to the guy who is doing the work to ask his opinion on how best to fit it.
He had a good look and says that it can be done fairly easily. Bolting it in place is a no-no due to the fuel tank sitting directly underneath the rear seats, which means there is no space. Welding it in place is the way to go, the only issue being that the isofix kit has to be raised around 1cm from the chassis so that it sits at the perfect height for the isofix base (Maxi-cosi Familyfix) to clip on to it. The guy reckons he can use washers or something similar to do this but it certainly isn't a problem.
He's quite happy to fit it for me so it'll be done this week all being well!
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Euan
