Original radio?
Does anyone still have their original radio?
What were they like? I don't think I've seen one.
Specifically from a GX, but any'd satisfy my interest

ive still got my one, not in the car though, it was actually sitting in the hole without any wires in the back, so I quickly put it away and bunged a better stereo in!
It was a panasonic btw, an mine is a GL, so it is possibly the same as supplied on a GX :dontknow:
Just found the model number actually
it is a MATSUSHITA (panasonic parent company) : CQ - 383EE

Ah that's cool.
I'm actually really happy with the Sony tape player I've got, early 90s model. It looks original as it's still square and black with nothing fancy. The thing that annoys me is that the volume/power/balance (all in one!) knob cracked in half and fell off, and so now it's a bit tricky to switch it on!

Hi, a few questions! I still have the original Panasonic tape deck but I'm thinking of replacing it with a CD player, how do you get the original head unit out, do you have to cut the dash to make the new cage fit, and what sort of wiring harness is behind the unit?
Thanks in advance

It sounds pretty good considering that age of it. I had to upgrade the Blaupunkt speakers though, they were made of masking tape!

I put an old push button radio in and wired it so the back light comes on. Then wired up a new one in the boot with an aux input and ran my Ipod to it putting the cable through to the bottom of the door and putting my Ipod in the door pocket. I can now use my Ipod through the radio in the boot, it was a bit of a fiddle but I was able to keep the interior looking standard but my tunes upto date.
